For those of you using a 44-inch wide fabric, this guide suggests measurements for a standard L Size. Think of this as your starting point. If you're working with different sizes or fabric widths, just adjust up or down accordingly. Hope this helps!
When it comes to how much fabric you'll need, it really depends on the design. We'd recommend having a chat with your designer or tailor before you order, just to be on the safe side.

Kantha is a running-stitch embroidery tradition from Bengal. Women repurpose old cotton sarees by layering and stitching them together with fine running stitches. The stitching creates a rippled surface and tells visual stories.
Old cotton sarees are stacked (3-7 layers) and stitched together using a simple running stitch with cotton thread. The stitching compresses the layers and creates a quilted texture. Narrative scenes are filled with colored thread.
Hand embroidery has a slightly irregular stitch pattern on the reverse side. Machine embroidery shows perfectly uniform stitches. The texture and depth of hand stitching is visibly different.
Handle embroidered areas gently. Avoid rubbing against rough surfaces. If a thread catches, don't pull. push it back gently with a needle. Proper care keeps the embroidery intact for years.
Turn inside out and hand wash in cold water. Do not wring or scrub the embroidered area. Press gently with a towel to remove water. Iron on the reverse side at low heat.
Art silk mimics real silk's sheen at a fraction of the cost. It feels smooth and glossy but slightly less cool than natural silk. The fabric holds bright colours especially well.
Dry clean is safest for Art Silk. If hand washing, use cold water and a mild silk-specific detergent. Never wring. Roll in a towel to absorb moisture, then dry flat in shade.
