How much fabric will I receive?
The exact yardage is mentioned on each product page. Our blouse pieces come in standard cuts. typically 1 metre, 2.5 metres, or full bolts. Check before ordering.
Can I use this fabric for stitching garments?

Will the fabric shrink after washing?

Bhagalpuri weaving comes from Bhagalpur, Bihar, famous for its tussar silk called 'Andi silk.' The fabric has a naturally textured, slightly coarse surface. Bhagalpuri silk carries a GI tag.
How long does it take to weave a Bhagalpuri product?
Weavers reel tussar silk from cocoons, spin it into yarn, and set it on handlooms. The natural gold-brown tone comes from the tussar silkworm. A single saree takes 2-3 days on the loom depending on the pattern density.
How can I tell if this is handloom and not powerloom?
Handloom fabric has a slightly uneven texture when you run your fingers along it. The selvedge edges look different from machine-woven ones. The weave carries a softness that powerlooms cannot replicate.
Why are there slight irregularities in the weave?
A human hand operates the loom. Thread tension, shuttle speed, and pedal pressure vary naturally. These small irregularities are proof of handloom origin. not defects.
How do I care for Bhagalpuri handloom products?
Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent for the first few washes. Avoid wringing. gently squeeze and dry flat in shade. The fabric softens beautifully with each wash.
What does Tussar feel like?
Tussar has a smooth, cool-to-touch surface with a natural sheen. It drapes elegantly and feels light against the skin. The texture becomes softer with gentle use over time.
How do I wash Tussar products?
Dry clean is safest for Tussar. If hand washing, use cold water and a mild silk-specific detergent. Never wring. Roll in a towel to absorb moisture, then dry flat in shade.
Is Tussar suitable for summer or winter?
Tussar works across seasons. It feels cool in summer and retains warmth in winter. The natural temperature regulation of silk makes it comfortable year-round in Indian climates.
How durable is Tussar?
With proper care, Tussar products last for years. The fibre is naturally strong. Avoid rough handling, direct sun, and chemical detergents. Gentle care keeps it looking fresh long-term.
Why is Tussar priced higher than cotton?
Silk production is labour-intensive. from rearing silkworms to reeling the thread. Tussar involves additional regional techniques that add time and skill. The price reflects the material and the maker's effort.
