This handpainted original work of madhubani godna painting is done on handmade paper base. Godna was originally the tattoo art of local tribes, engraved on the body on important occasions. Godna art does not shy away from time-taking fine detailing, repetitious imagery and storytelling from the epics or deities followed by their caste. These paintings largely composed of rows and concentric circles of flowers, fields, animals, figures and spirits drawn with a pointed bamboo pen using natural colours and permanent ink. This Indian tribal art comes from madhubani from the family of Shravan Paswan. A wonderful painting for the discerning decor aficionado or a gift for an art lover. These are priceless collectibles.

Sharavan Kumar Paswan is the third generation artist of Godna Paintings from Madhubani district in Bihar. He had the privilege of learning this craft from his mother, the legendary “Urmila Devi”. As a child, it was fascinating for him to see his mother working under expert supervision and her days of hard work; Shravan Ji mastered the techniques of this craft form. Today, along with his son and other family members, he runs their main markets at various Shilpa Bazaars and trade fairs around the country. Currently, they have a lot of stock as sales and normal market channels have been severely impacted due to the effects of the COVID-19 lockdown.
Madhubani's painting of Godna is done by the Paswan community without depictions of famous religious figures according to ancient tattoo styles. They had their own divine gods living in nature. Godna art is considered an adaptation of a ancient art form.

For those of you using a 44-inch wide fabric, this guide suggests measurements for a standard L Size. Think of this as your starting point. If you're working with different sizes or fabric widths, just adjust up or down accordingly. Hope this helps!
When it comes to how much fabric you'll need, it really depends on the design. We'd recommend having a chat with your designer or tailor before you order, just to be on the safe side.
