Urmul Marusthali Bunker Vikas Samiti (UMBVS) is a registered non-profit organization established for the welfare of artisans in the Great Thar Desert of Western Rajasthan. With the modernization of the textile industry, traditional employment opportunities in the desert are rapidly disappearing. Today, they work with more than 200 weavers (about 20 of them women) in 12 villages in northwestern Rajasthan. This gives the craftsman the opportunity to create quality products. Weavers working in intermediary societies earn higher prices for products sold in local and international markets. The goals and objectives of Urmul Marustali Bunkar Vikas Samiti are to Help eliminate economic, social, and political inequalities in society and develop the disadvantaged parts of society.
