Aha vastra is a rural cooperative that promotes innovation, livelihood development, and gender equality through textile production. It is a loom cooperative formed by members of Jhiri Village who believe in positive social change through sewing. Their mission is to provide livelihoods to supplement agricultural income, to provide equal employment for men and women, to have little impact on the environment, to prevent migration to cities in search of work, and to provide maximum benefits to as many people as possible. At Aha vastra, they strive to build a democratic and empowering space. Their authenticity in craft and the sheer determination of their craftsmen make their products more genuine and original.
