One cannot deny the charm and ethnic vibe of handcrafted fabrics that personify the skills of artisans and the warmth of tradition. iTokri’s Bagru print collection is an ode to India’s rich textile heritage, beautifully expressed on breathable bases like cotton fabric, airy linen fabric, and delicately detailed hakoba fabric.
Our Bagru print fabrics are great for personal use or to be given as handmade gifts for Women’s Day or even as corporate gifts.
The finesse of Bagru handblock printing is brought to life through these ways:
Bagru block printing is an age-old craft from Rajasthan, where intricate designs are carved onto wooden blocks by craftsmen and then dipped in natural dyes before being pressed onto fabric. The Pure Bagru print fabric which has been printed in this way feels like poetry in motion!
This form of Bagru handblock fabric relies on the pure magic of nature for dyeing. Here, the Bagru fabric is dyed with colors extracted from flowers, roots, leaves, and even minerals. Each shade of nature evolves beautifully over time and gives a discerning and ethnic vibe to your Bagru print fabric. This fabric can in turn be used for making handloom sarees online, stylish kurtas for women etc.
If you have ever seen Kalamkari kurtas or sarees, you will realise that it is a beautiful form of storytelling. Kalamkari artisans use wooden blocks to bring motifs to life. This form of block printing carries the legacy of generations of artisans who have perfected this art through immense practice.
Weaving comes from Rajasthan and this form of weave is so fine that it actually feels like air against your skin. The delicate fabric is made from a blend of cotton and silk and exhibits geometric patterns. iTokri has a range of Kota Doria sarees, dupattas and fabric and each article is elegance redefined.
Hand block printing lies at the heart of all these crafts. With this form of fabric printing, the artisan is able to leave behind a piece of his passion and emotion in his creation. This is what sets handmade garments apart as each fabric is as unique as you.
Every fabric in our collection personifies the art of weaving, dyeing, and block printing. From the earthy charm of Bagru prints to the intricate patterns of Ajrakh, each fabric including thoughtfully curated cotton dress material is a tribute to India’s rich textile heritage.
Unlike mass-produced fabrics that lack character, our handcrafted textiles tell tales of time-honored traditions that are a part of India’s cultural soul.

Bagru print comes from the town of Bagru in Rajasthan where artisans have been hand block printing fabric for generations using natural dyes, mud resist techniques and carved wooden blocks. The colours feel earthy, slightly muted and deeply organic in a way machine prints never quite manage. Once you see the real Bagru up close, the difference is obvious.
A little colour release in the first wash is completely normal with natural dyed Bagru fabrics. Wash it separately in cold water the first time and the colours settle beautifully after that.
Very good. Most Bagru fabrics are printed on breathable cotton that feels light on the skin and handles Indian summers really well. Easy to wear through long days without feeling heavy or uncomfortable.
Absolutely. Bagru works beautifully for kurtas, suit sets, kaftans, dresses and dupattas. The patterns carry enough character on their own so even very simple silhouettes look well put together.
Not at all. Hand block printing always comes with tiny variations where the block was pressed by hand. Slight overlaps, softened edges and small irregularities are part of the craft itself. Perfectly identical prints usually mean a machine made it.
For a regular kurta, around 2.5 to 3 metres usually works. If you're planning a full suit with bottom and dupatta, you'll need more depending on the style. Your tailor should confirm the final measurement before you order.
Like most natural cotton fabrics, Bagru can shrink slightly in the first wash. Washing the fabric once before stitching is always the safest option so the final fit stays correct.
Very easily. Cushion covers, table runners, curtains, soft furnishings, Bagru patterns bring a warm handcrafted feel into a space without looking overdone.
Cold water, mild soap and a gentle hand wash is enough. Avoid harsh detergents, don't scrub the print directly and always dry the fabric in shade. Natural dyes stay richer for much longer that way.
A lot of fabrics sold online as Bagru are actually screen printed copies designed to imitate the look of hand block printing. Real Bagru has depth, slight variation and a softness in the print that machines cannot replicate. iTokri sources directly from the artisan communities in Rajasthan so the fabric you receive is genuinely hand block printed by the people who have been practising this craft for generations.
