With five national award winners and the Shilp Guru Award (Rajendra Bondwal), the Bondwal family is at the top of the list. Traditionally, his grandfather, father, and uncle have been working on ivory for generations. Over time, they had to switch to sandalwood and then to Kadam and Abnoosewood. Many of us have seen elephant-shaped undercuts of different elephants, both marble and wood. It was first created by Niraj Bondwal's father, Mahabil Bondwal Ji, who also won a national award. Neeraj Ji has worked to inherit his legacy and master his own style.
