The Rogan art of painting is an ancient art over three hundred years old. The traditional Rogan flower motifs and designs speak of a Persian influence and the word Rogan itself means oil-based in Persian. Today, Nirona in Kutch is the only place where this work is created. When castor oil is heated over fire for more than twelve hours and cast into cold water, it produces a thick residue called rogan, which is mixed with natural colours obtained from the earth. With a six-inch wooden stick or pen, the craftperson then draws out from this a fine thread which is painted to the cloth. Rogan painting is delicately and precisely painted from one's own creative imagination and is done with total concentration sitting on the floor without using a table-frame or any outline.

For those of you using a 44-inch wide fabric, this guide suggests measurements for a standard L Size. Think of this as your starting point. If you're working with different sizes or fabric widths, just adjust up or down accordingly. Hope this helps!
When it comes to how much fabric you'll need, it really depends on the design. We'd recommend having a chat with your designer or tailor before you order, just to be on the safe side.

Rogan art is an extremely rare textile painting craft from Nirona village in Kutch, Gujarat. Only one family in the world still practices it. The artist paints with castor oil-based paste using a metal stylus, never touching the fabric.
The artist heats castor oil until it thickens into a paste, mixes it with natural pigments, and twirls it onto a metal rod. The paste is then placed on fabric by touching the rod tip to the surface. The fabric and tool never make contact.
Traditional Rogan Art uses natural pigments and earth-based colors. Some modern interpretations use acrylic for durability. The product description mentions the medium used in each piece.
Most Rogan Art artworks are ready for framing. Some come on paper, some on fabric or wood. Frame under glass to protect from dust and moisture. Display away from direct sunlight.
Keep away from direct sunlight and moisture. Dust gently with a soft dry cloth. If framed under glass, it needs minimal care. Avoid touching painted surfaces with wet hands.
Cotton feels soft, breathable, and familiar against skin. Handloom cotton has a slight irregularity you can feel with your fingertips . tiny slubs that machine-made fabric lacks.
Hand wash or gentle machine cycle in cold water. Use mild detergent. Cotton can shrink 3-5% in the first wash. that's normal. Air dry in shade for best color retention.
Cotton breathes well in hot weather and layers comfortably in winter. It's one of the most versatile fabrics across Indian seasons. Lighter weaves suit summer; denser ones work in cooler months.
Cotton is one of the most durable natural fabrics. It holds up well to regular washing and daily wear. Handloom cotton often outlasts its machine-made counterparts.
Handloom Cotton has a distinct texture. slightly uneven, with a softer hand-feel. It's woven on manual looms with natural yarn tension. Mill cotton is uniform but lacks that organic character.
