Fold it along the length and wrap in a soft muslin cloth. Store flat in a dry cupboard. Refold every few months to avoid crease marks on the fabric.

Fall and pico (stitched border) are not done unless the listing specifically says so. Most sarees ship unstitched. Many local tailors offer fall and pico service at a nominal cost.
What is Banarasi weaving?
Banarasi weaving comes from Varanasi (Banaras), Uttar Pradesh, with roots in Mughal-era patronage. The sarees are known for heavy gold and silver brocade (zari) work, featuring intricate jaal, butti, and kalga motifs. GI tagged.
How long does it take to weave a Banarasi product?
Weavers use drawlooms or jacquard looms. Pure gold or silver threads are woven into silk to create brocade patterns. The zari is manually placed for each motif row. A heavy bridal Banarasi can take 1-6 months to complete.
How can I tell if this is handloom and not powerloom?
Handloom fabric has a slightly uneven texture when you run your fingers along it. The selvedge edges look different from machine-woven ones. The weave carries a softness that powerlooms cannot replicate.
Why are there slight irregularities in the weave?
A human hand operates the loom. Thread tension, shuttle speed, and pedal pressure vary naturally. These small irregularities are proof of handloom origin. not defects.
How do I care for Banarasi handloom products?
Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent for the first few washes. Avoid wringing. gently squeeze and dry flat in shade. The fabric softens beautifully with each wash.
