Srikalahasti Pen/Bamboo Work Kalamkari
| Size | Length - 3 cm, Width - 10 cm, Handle Length - 13 cm, (Zipper lock main closure). |
| Weight | 100 grams (approximately). |
| Material | Beige srikalahasti kalamkari handpainted wallet is made from cotton fabric and foam leather. Each piece reflects the traditional kalamkari process, where the design is first drawn by hand using a kalam (a bamboo pen) and then filled with colours that are naturally derived from leaves, flowers and other plant sources. This product comes from Dwaraka Plus, a not-for-profit, artisan-owned initiative started in 1998 by Anita Reddy and Dwaraknath Reddy. The organisation works closely with artisan communities to keep this handpainted kalamkari tradition alive while also creating steady work opportunities, especially for women artisans. The wallet is designed for everyday use and features four simple pockets, one zipper, and multiple card holders inside, making it easy to carry essentials like cash, cards, or small personal items. A Note on Handmade Beauty: |
| Care | Wipe gently with a clean dry cloth when needed. Keep away from water and other liquid substances. |
| Colour | Slight difference in colour from the visible product image is possible. |

For those of you using a 44-inch wide fabric, this guide suggests measurements for a standard L Size. Think of this as your starting point. If you're working with different sizes or fabric widths, just adjust up or down accordingly. Hope this helps!
When it comes to how much fabric you'll need, it really depends on the design. We'd recommend having a chat with your designer or tailor before you order, just to be on the safe side.

Srikalahasti Kalamkari is a hand-drawn textile art from Srikalahasti, Andhra Pradesh. Artists use a bamboo pen (kalam) dipped in natural dyes to draw mythological scenes directly on fabric. No blocks are used.
The artist holds a pointed bamboo kalam wrapped with wool (to hold dye) and draws freehand on fabric. Natural dyes from indigo, pomegranate, and iron are used. The fabric goes through multiple wash and mordant steps between colors.
Look for slight irregularities in the pattern. Block prints are never perfectly symmetrical. The reverse side shows faint ink marks. These small imperfections confirm it's hand-stamped, not machine-made.
Each impression is placed by hand. Block pressure, ink amount, and fabric texture create natural variations. Two pieces from the same batch will look similar but never identical.
First wash in cold water with a pinch of salt to set the dye. Always hand wash or use a gentle machine cycle. Dry in shade. Direct sun can shift natural dye colors over time.
Cotton feels soft, breathable, and familiar against skin. Handloom cotton has a slight irregularity you can feel with your fingertips . tiny slubs that machine-made fabric lacks.
Hand wash or gentle machine cycle in cold water. Use mild detergent. Cotton can shrink 3-5% in the first wash. that's normal. Air dry in shade for best color retention.
Cotton breathes well in hot weather and layers comfortably in winter. It's one of the most versatile fabrics across Indian seasons. Lighter weaves suit summer; denser ones work in cooler months.
Cotton is one of the most durable natural fabrics. It holds up well to regular washing and daily wear. Handloom cotton often outlasts its machine-made counterparts.
Handloom Cotton has a distinct texture. slightly uneven, with a softer hand-feel. It's woven on manual looms with natural yarn tension. Mill cotton is uniform but lacks that organic character.
