Fabric Care
Dry clean only. Between wears, air in shade and store folded in a soft cotton cloth. Iron on the reverse at a low setting, never directly over embroidery or zari. Refold it along new lines every few months so the folds do not set. Note: keep away from perfume sprays and damp.
Description
Pink and blue flower vines are drawn by hand across the mustard silk cotton body, and a peacock stands proud on the black pallu.
The design
Small pink and blue flowers and leaves climb all over the mustard ground, and round peacock medallions sit at intervals down the body.
Each long edge has a coral pink border with fine gold lines woven through it.
The black pallu shows a large peacock beside a flowering tree, with a patterned band above and small scallops below. A short fringe finishes the end.
How it is made
Look closely at any flower here and you will find a firm black line around it.
The black. Its name is kasimi: scraps of rusted iron sit for days with cane jaggery and palm jaggery, fermenting in a clay pot.
The bond. Earlier, the cloth is treated with myrobalan, a dried fruit rich in tannin, and the black takes only where that tannin lies.
The line. The artisan fills the outlines with the pen dipped in this iron solution. Kalahasti work is known by this strong black outline, the line of a folk form rather than a fine courtly one.
Once the outline is done, the cloth goes into running water for a wash.
The cloth
Silk cotton brings together the softness of cotton and a little of the sheen of silk. The painted body is matte, and the coral borders carry a gentle shine.
It is comfortable year-round in Indian weather. Wear it first to festivals, and to parties or a relaxed day out as well.
Natural dyes can leave a mild natural smell at first; it is part of the craft, not a defect.
A Note on Handmade Beauty Slight irregularities in weave, print and colour are natural to handmade textiles. They are the record of the hand that made this piece, not flaws.
South Kargha’s handcrafted weaves. Where tradition meets contemporary design in every thread.

For those of you using a 44-inch wide fabric, this guide suggests measurements for a standard L Size. Think of this as your starting point. If you're working with different sizes or fabric widths, just adjust up or down accordingly. Hope this helps!
When it comes to how much fabric you'll need, it really depends on the design. We'd recommend having a chat with your designer or tailor before you order, just to be on the safe side.

We dispatch most orders within 48 hours. Within India, expect 5 to 7 business days, faster to the metros. International orders take 7 to 14 business days. Your tracking link arrives by email, SMS and WhatsApp once it ships.
Can I return or exchange this?
For orders within India, yes. You have 7 days from delivery, for unused product in its original packaging. WhatsApp our team with your order number and we handle it from there. Orders shipped outside India cannot be returned or exchanged, so message us before you order and we will help with size, fabric and a video of the actual piece.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cards, UPI, net banking and wallets. Cash on delivery is available in most Indian pin codes, and you will see it at checkout if yours qualifies. International orders are paid by card or PayPal, and are not COD-eligible.
How do I know this is genuinely handmade?
We source every product directly from artisan workshops across India. No middlemen, no factories. We work with over 10,000 artisans in 500+ craft clusters.
How will my order be packed?
Every order includes a handwritten note and a small surprise gift from us. Your product is wrapped carefully to reach you safe. We've done this since day one.
What length and width can I expect in your sarees?
Our sarees are typically 5.5 metres long with a 0.8-metre blouse piece. Some come at 6.3 metres without a separate blouse piece. Check the product page for exact measurements.
Does this saree come with a blouse piece?
Most of our sarees include an unstitched blouse piece. The product page clearly mentions if one is included. If it says 'without blouse,' only the saree is shipped.
Can I wear this for daily use or is it more for occasions?
We carry both everyday and occasion sarees. Lighter fabrics work well daily. Heavier weaves or embroidered ones suit weddings and festivals. The product description notes the best fit.
How should I store my saree when not wearing it?
Fold it along the length and wrap in a soft muslin cloth. Store flat in a dry cupboard. Refold every few months to avoid crease marks on the fabric.
Is the fall and pico already done?
Fall and pico (stitched border) are not done unless the listing specifically says so. Most sarees ship unstitched. Many local tailors offer fall and pico service at a nominal cost.
What is Srikalahasti Kalamkari?
Srikalahasti Kalamkari is a hand-drawn textile art from Srikalahasti, Andhra Pradesh. Artists use a bamboo pen (kalam) dipped in natural dyes to draw mythological scenes directly on fabric. No blocks are used.
How is Srikalahasti Kalamkari done?
The artist holds a pointed bamboo kalam wrapped with wool (to hold dye) and draws freehand on fabric. Natural dyes from indigo, pomegranate, and iron are used. The fabric goes through multiple wash and mordant steps between colors.
How can I tell if my Srikalahasti Kalamkari product is genuine?
Look for slight irregularities in the pattern. Block prints are never perfectly symmetrical. The reverse side shows faint ink marks. These small imperfections confirm it's hand-stamped, not machine-made.
Why do Srikalahasti Kalamkari prints look slightly different from each other?
Each impression is placed by hand. Block pressure, ink amount, and fabric texture create natural variations. Two pieces from the same batch will look similar but never identical.
How should I wash Srikalahasti Kalamkari products?
First wash in cold water. Always hand wash or use a gentle machine cycle. Dry in shade. Direct sun can shift natural dye colors over time.
What does Silk Cotton feel like?
Silk cotton blends the smoothness of silk with cotton's breathability. It feels soft, mid-weight, and comfortable. The blend creates a gentle sheen without silk's full price.
How do I wash Silk Cotton products?
Dry clean is safest for Silk Cotton. If hand washing, use cold water and a mild silk-specific detergent. Never wring. Roll in a towel to absorb moisture, then dry flat in shade.
Is Silk Cotton suitable for summer or winter?
Silk Cotton works across seasons. It feels cool in summer and retains warmth in winter. The natural temperature regulation of silk makes it comfortable year-round in Indian climates.
How durable is Silk Cotton?
With proper care, Silk Cotton products last for years. The fibre is naturally strong. Avoid rough handling, direct sun, and chemical detergents. Gentle care keeps it looking fresh long-term.
Why is Silk Cotton priced higher than cotton?
Silk production is labour-intensive. from rearing silkworms to reeling the thread. Silk Cotton involves additional regional techniques that add time and skill. The price reflects the material and the maker's effort.
