For those of you using a 44-inch wide fabric, this guide suggests measurements for a standard L Size. Think of this as your starting point. If you're working with different sizes or fabric widths, just adjust up or down accordingly. Hope this helps!

Sambalpuri Ikat comes from the Sambalpur region of Odisha. Known for its traditional motifs like shankha (conch), chakra (wheel), and phula (flower). The tie-dye-before-weaving technique produces designs on both sides.
How long does it take to weave a Sambalpuri Ikat product?
Weavers tie cotton or silk yarn bundles at specific intervals, dye them, and repeat for each color. The tied yarn is then set on the loom. Patterns appear identically on both fabric faces because the dye penetrates the yarn fully.
How can I tell if this is handloom and not powerloom?
Handloom fabric has a slightly uneven texture when you run your fingers along it. The selvedge edges look different from machine-woven ones. The weave carries a softness that powerlooms cannot replicate.
Why are there slight irregularities in the weave?
A human hand operates the loom. Thread tension, shuttle speed, and pedal pressure vary naturally. These small irregularities are proof of handloom origin. not defects.
How do I care for Sambalpuri Ikat handloom products?
Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent for the first few washes. Avoid wringing. gently squeeze and dry flat in shade. The fabric softens beautifully with each wash.
