Patnulu kuppadam temple kada zari pure handspun handloom cotton saree is woven by skilled artisans in the Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. Kuppadam is an interlocking weaving technique used to create contrasting temple borders. It is crafted using three different weft threads—one for the body and one for each border—which interlock with one another to produce distinct body and border colours in a single weave. This intricate process is time-consuming and requires exceptional skill and precision. Azo-free dyes are used to colour the yarn. Handspun, handloom cotton offers a soft feel and comfortable drape, making the saree suitable for extended wear. This saree is ideal for festive celebrations, cultural events, and graceful everyday wear.
This 100% desi, 100% hand-made yarn is called 'Patnulu' by the local craftspeople to distinguish it from 'Ambar Khadi' or yarn that is spun on the Ambar Charkha. This saree is woven in Warp : Ambar handspun, Weft : Patnulu handspun composition.
Note : This piece carries tiny knots, thread pulls, or uneven lines not flaws, but fingerprints. Every irregularity is a whisper from the hands that made it.
