Material
Blue handpainted kalamkari jewellery box by Dwaraka Plus, crafted from craft board and embellished with cotton and ghicha silk. Soft velvet fabric is used inside the box. This piece showcases the art of kalamkari, where each design is hand-drawn using a “kalam” (bamboo stick) and filled with natural colours. This jewellery box features three utility hooks, an elastic inner pocket, and six compartments, keeping your rings, earrings, chains and accessories neatly organised and protected.
A Note on Handmade Beauty: Each piece is hand painted and using natural colors over a slow process of 30–35 days. As a result, you may notice slight variations in color, mild pigment smudges, or irregular dye patterns, these are not defects. They’re gentle marks of authenticity, proudly bearing the touch of human hands, heritage, and nature’s own palette. Wear them like a signature because no two pieces are ever alike.

For those of you using a 44-inch wide fabric, this guide suggests measurements for a standard L Size. Think of this as your starting point. If you're working with different sizes or fabric widths, just adjust up or down accordingly. Hope this helps!
When it comes to how much fabric you'll need, it really depends on the design. We'd recommend having a chat with your designer or tailor before you order, just to be on the safe side.

What is Srikalahasti Kalamkari?
Srikalahasti Kalamkari is a hand-drawn textile art from Srikalahasti, Andhra Pradesh. Artists use a bamboo pen (kalam) dipped in natural dyes to draw mythological scenes directly on fabric. No blocks are used.
How is Srikalahasti Kalamkari done?
The artist holds a pointed bamboo kalam wrapped with wool (to hold dye) and draws freehand on fabric. Natural dyes from indigo, pomegranate, and iron are used. The fabric goes through multiple wash and mordant steps between colors.
How can I tell if my Srikalahasti Kalamkari product is genuine?
Look for slight irregularities in the pattern. Block prints are never perfectly symmetrical. The reverse side shows faint ink marks. These small imperfections confirm it's hand-stamped, not machine-made.
Why do Srikalahasti Kalamkari prints look slightly different from each other?
Each impression is placed by hand. Block pressure, ink amount, and fabric texture create natural variations. Two pieces from the same batch will look similar but never identical.
How should I wash Srikalahasti Kalamkari products?
First wash in cold water with a pinch of salt to set the dye. Always hand wash or use a gentle machine cycle. Dry in shade. Direct sun can shift natural dye colors over time.
What does Silk feel like?
Pure silk feels cool to the touch and warms with your body. It has a smooth, liquid drape and a natural sheen that catches light. The fabric is lightweight yet strong.
How do I wash Silk products?
Dry clean is safest for Silk. If hand washing, use cold water and a mild silk-specific detergent. Never wring. Roll in a towel to absorb moisture, then dry flat in shade.
Is Silk suitable for summer or winter?
Silk works across seasons. It feels cool in summer and retains warmth in winter. The natural temperature regulation of silk makes it comfortable year-round in Indian climates.
How durable is Silk?
With proper care, Silk products last for years. The fibre is naturally strong. Avoid rough handling, direct sun, and chemical detergents. Gentle care keeps it looking fresh long-term.
Why is Silk priced higher than cotton?
Silk production is labour-intensive. from rearing silkworms to reeling the thread. Silk involves additional regional techniques that add time and skill. The price reflects the material and the maker's effort.
