For those of you using a 44-inch wide fabric, this guide suggests measurements for a standard L Size. Think of this as your starting point. If you're working with different sizes or fabric widths, just adjust up or down accordingly. Hope this helps!
When it comes to how much fabric you'll need, it really depends on the design. We'd recommend having a chat with your designer or tailor before you order, just to be on the safe side.

Kashida is a hook-needle embroidery from Kashmir. The artisan uses an aari (hooked needle) pulled from below the fabric to create chain stitches. Paisley, chinar leaf, and floral motifs are signature patterns.
The embroiderer stretches fabric on a frame and works from below using an aari (hooked needle). The hook pulls thread through from the underside, creating a continuous chain stitch on top. Dense filling takes weeks to months.
Hand embroidery has a slightly irregular stitch pattern on the reverse side. Machine embroidery shows perfectly uniform stitches. The texture and depth of hand stitching is visibly different.
Handle embroidered areas gently. Avoid rubbing against rough surfaces. If a thread catches, don't pull. push it back gently with a needle. Proper care keeps the embroidery intact for years.
Turn inside out and hand wash in cold water. Do not wring or scrub the embroidered area. Press gently with a towel to remove water. Iron on the reverse side at low heat.
Pure silk feels cool to the touch and warms with your body. It has a smooth, liquid drape and a natural sheen that catches light. The fabric is lightweight yet strong.
Dry clean is safest for Silk. If hand washing, use cold water and a mild silk-specific detergent. Never wring. Roll in a towel to absorb moisture, then dry flat in shade.
Silk works across seasons. It feels cool in summer and retains warmth in winter. The natural temperature regulation of silk makes it comfortable year-round in Indian climates.
With proper care, Silk products last for years. The fibre is naturally strong. Avoid rough handling, direct sun, and chemical detergents. Gentle care keeps it looking fresh long-term.
Silk production is labour-intensive. from rearing silkworms to reeling the thread. Silk involves additional regional techniques that add time and skill. The price reflects the material and the maker's effort.
