Kota Doria weaving comes from Kota, Rajasthan. The fabric has a distinctive open, checkered pattern called 'khat' created by alternating thick and thin threads. Cotton and silk threads produce the characteristic square grid.

Weavers use a pit loom with cotton and silk yarns. Thick threads create the grid structure while thin threads fill the open squares. The weave produces a lightweight, see-through fabric with a natural crispness. GI tagged.
