Maroon Kutch pakko hand embroidery is done on this beautiful cushion cover. Made of silk fabric with hand-embroidered mirror work done by craftswoman in the Kutch region of Gujarat. It has a cotton fabric lining inside. Elevate your home decor with this exquisite piece, adding sophistication and culture to your living space while celebrating the rich heritage of Kutch. Artisanal Community : Sodha Rajput Traditionally cattle herders and agriculturists, they are the most recent migrants to Kutch. In this community, women wear an embroidered Choliand jacket after their marriage. Their embroidery style is mainly referred to as Pakko (which is predominantly used) and also comprises other stitches such as Neran, Kharek, Kambhiri. Their patterns are similar to that of Meghwar. Other than the embroidery, they do patch-work and applique. The Rajputs, who are historically the protector-warriors, as a community are conservative. For those of you using a 44-inch wide fabric, this guide suggests measurements for a standard L Size. Think of this as your starting point. If you're working with different sizes or fabric widths, just adjust up or down accordingly. Hope this helps!
When it comes to how much fabric you'll need, it really depends on the design. We'd recommend having a chat with your designer or tailor before you order, just to be on the safe side.

What is Kutch Embroidery embroidery?
Kutch embroidery encompasses several sub-styles from different communities: Rabari (mirror work), Ahir (chain stitch), Jat (interlocking patterns), and Mutwa (fine geometric). Each community has its own distinct stitch and color palette.
How long does Kutch Embroidery embroidery take?
Artisan women embroider by hand using needle and thread. Mirror work involves attaching small mirrors with buttonhole stitches. Chain stitch is done with an aari hook. The designs are worked from memory, not from drawn patterns.
How can I tell if the embroidery is hand-done?
Hand embroidery has a slightly irregular stitch pattern on the reverse side. Machine embroidery shows perfectly uniform stitches. The texture and depth of hand stitching is visibly different.
Will the threads pull or snag during use?
Handle embroidered areas gently. Avoid rubbing against rough surfaces. If a thread catches, don't pull. push it back gently with a needle. Proper care keeps the embroidery intact for years.
How do I wash embroidered products?
Turn inside out and hand wash in cold water. Do not wring or scrub the embroidered area. Press gently with a towel to remove water. Iron on the reverse side at low heat.
What does Silk feel like?
Pure silk feels cool to the touch and warms with your body. It has a smooth, liquid drape and a natural sheen that catches light. The fabric is lightweight yet strong.
How do I wash Silk products?
Dry clean is safest for Silk. If hand washing, use cold water and a mild silk-specific detergent. Never wring. Roll in a towel to absorb moisture, then dry flat in shade.
Is Silk suitable for summer or winter?
Silk works across seasons. It feels cool in summer and retains warmth in winter. The natural temperature regulation of silk makes it comfortable year-round in Indian climates.
How durable is Silk?
With proper care, Silk products last for years. The fibre is naturally strong. Avoid rough handling, direct sun, and chemical detergents. Gentle care keeps it looking fresh long-term.
Why is Silk priced higher than cotton?
Silk production is labour-intensive. from rearing silkworms to reeling the thread. Silk involves additional regional techniques that add time and skill. The price reflects the material and the maker's effort.
