Fold it along the length and wrap in a soft muslin cloth. Store flat in a dry cupboard. Refold every few months to avoid crease marks on the fabric.

Fall and pico (stitched border) are not done unless the listing specifically says so. Most sarees ship unstitched. Many local tailors offer fall and pico service at a nominal cost.
What is Banarasi weaving?
Banarasi weaving comes from Varanasi (Banaras), Uttar Pradesh, with roots in Mughal-era patronage. The sarees are known for heavy gold and silver brocade (zari) work, featuring intricate jaal, butti, and kalga motifs. GI tagged.
How long does it take to weave a Banarasi product?
Weavers use drawlooms or jacquard looms. Pure gold or silver threads are woven into silk to create brocade patterns. The zari is manually placed for each motif row. A heavy bridal Banarasi can take 1-6 months to complete.
How can I tell if this is handloom and not powerloom?
Handloom fabric has a slightly uneven texture when you run your fingers along it. The selvedge edges look different from machine-woven ones. The weave carries a softness that powerlooms cannot replicate.
Why are there slight irregularities in the weave?
A human hand operates the loom. Thread tension, shuttle speed, and pedal pressure vary naturally. These small irregularities are proof of handloom origin. not defects.
How do I care for Banarasi handloom products?
Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent for the first few washes. Avoid wringing. gently squeeze and dry flat in shade. The fabric softens beautifully with each wash.
What does Katan Silk feel like?
Katan silk is a tightly woven pure silk with real heft. It feels substantial and smooth with a rich drape. This is the base fabric for fine Banarasi weaving.
How do I wash Katan Silk products?
Dry clean is safest for Katan Silk. If hand washing, use cold water and a mild silk-specific detergent. Never wring. Roll in a towel to absorb moisture, then dry flat in shade.
Is Katan Silk suitable for summer or winter?
Katan Silk works across seasons. It feels cool in summer and retains warmth in winter. The natural temperature regulation of silk makes it comfortable year-round in Indian climates.
How durable is Katan Silk?
With proper care, Katan Silk products last for years. The fibre is naturally strong. Avoid rough handling, direct sun, and chemical detergents. Gentle care keeps it looking fresh long-term.
Why is Katan Silk priced higher than cotton?
Silk production is labour-intensive. from rearing silkworms to reeling the thread. Katan Silk involves additional regional techniques that add time and skill. The price reflects the material and the maker's effort.
