Punch cards or digital programming on the jacquard head control which threads rise for each weft pass. This enables intricate motifs without manual pick-and-choose of threads. The weaver operates the loom while the mechanism handles the pattern.
How can I tell if this is handloom and not powerloom?
Handloom fabric has a slightly uneven texture when you run your fingers along it. The selvedge edges look different from machine-woven ones. The weave carries a softness that powerlooms cannot replicate.
Why are there slight irregularities in the weave?
A human hand operates the loom. Thread tension, shuttle speed, and pedal pressure vary naturally. These small irregularities are proof of handloom origin. not defects.
How do I care for Jacquard handloom products?
Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent for the first few washes. Avoid wringing. gently squeeze and dry flat in shade. The fabric softens beautifully with each wash.
