White hand-crafted filigree circular shaped sterling silver earrings from Kalinga, Odisha. This product is made by artisans working traditionally with precious ornaments. (made of 92.5% sterling silver) Featuring an eye-catching design and excellent finish, these filigree silver earrings are a must-have in your accessory collection. Filigree is a beautiful form of metalwork. It originated in the ancient world. It is also known as Telkari (from the Anatolian word meaning "wire work"). It is formed using delicate twisted threads of silver, often with repeated curvy motifs, that suggest lace. These fine wire pieces are then soldered together to create a larger piece. This technique became very popular in French fashion jewelry, from 1660 to the present. But its exquisite feminine look is in fashion every year!

What is Filigree craft?
Filigree (Tarakasi) is a fine metalwork craft from Cuttack, Odisha. Artisans twist thin silver or gold wires into intricate lace-like patterns and solder them together. GI tagged. The wirework is so fine it resembles fabric lace.
What metal is used in Filigree products?
Artisans draw metal into extremely thin wires, twist pairs of wires together, then bend and shape them into scroll, floral, and geometric patterns. These wire elements are soldered onto a frame or to each other to form the final piece.
Will the metal tarnish or change color?
Brass and copper naturally develop a patina over time. This is normal and considered desirable by many. Clean with lemon and salt paste to restore original shine if preferred.
Is this safe for food contact?
Brass and copper vessels have been used for food in India for centuries. For acidic foods, use a tin-coated interior. The product description notes food-safety where applicable.
How do I maintain Filigree products?
Wipe with a soft dry cloth after use. For deeper cleaning, use lemon juice and salt or a mild metal polish. Store in a dry place. Avoid abrasive scrubbers on finished surfaces.
