Gentle hand wash separately in cold water with a mild liquid detergent. Natural colours may bleed a little in the first wash or two; soak once in cold salt water before the first wear, and do not soak for long after. Dry in shade, away from direct sun. Iron on the reverse, never across the work. Note: minor colour bleed in the first one or two washes is expected; the salt soak before the first wear settles it.
Description
The sixth photograph comes in close on the neck of this rust red kurta: a round line with a small V-notch at its centre, and leaf-shaped sprays printed up to its edge. Each spray stands upright, medium to large, filled with fine navy blue and blush pink detail and drawn round in crisp black, and the sprays repeat in neat, spaced rows over the whole body.
Ajrakh work begins before any block touches the cloth: in the cluster, greige cotton is scoured with soda ash, castor oil and camel dung, which strip the waxes and loom oils that would repel water-based dyes. Kutch Ajrakh received a Geographical Indication in 2024.
Nothing on it fastens, and it falls in a straight line to the calf. It goes on over the head, its three-quarter sleeves end on a plain edge with no cuff, and slits open at both sides above a plain hem; the side pocket, where the model rests a hand in the first frame, is placed for keys or a phone. Wear it as casual wear with slim trousers, or as daily wear through a working week. In the last frame, the back carries the same rows of sprays from shoulder to hem.

Is this ready to wear or do I need to get it stitched?
Our kurtas are ready to wear unless the listing says 'unstitched.' Stitched pieces ship as-is. Unstitched pieces need a tailor. we include measurement guidance where needed.
What is the fit like. loose, regular, or slim?
The fit type is noted on every product page. Most of our kurtas have a relaxed, comfortable fit. If you prefer a closer fit, consider going one size down.
Can I machine wash this?
We recommend hand washing for the first 2-3 washes. After that, gentle machine wash works for most cotton and blended kurtas. Silk and embroidered pieces need hand wash only.
Will this work for office wear?
Solid-colour cotton or linen kurtas with minimal embellishment work well for offices. Pair with straight pants for a professional look. Heavily embroidered ones suit festive occasions.
What is Ajrakh printing?
Ajrakh is a resist-printing craft from Kutch, Gujarat. It uses indigo and madder root dyes in a 16-step process. The Khatri community has practiced it for over 400 years. It holds a GI tag.
How is Ajrakh printing done?
The fabric goes through repeated rounds of resist application, dyeing, washing, and sun-drying. Artisans use carved teak blocks and a mud-lime resist paste. A single piece takes up to two weeks to complete.
How can I tell if my Ajrakh product is genuinely block printed?
Look for slight irregularities in the pattern. block prints are never perfectly symmetrical. The reverse side shows faint ink marks. These small imperfections confirm it's hand-stamped, not machine-made.
Why do Ajrakh prints look slightly different from each other?
Each impression is placed by hand. Block pressure, ink amount, and fabric texture create natural variations. Two pieces from the same batch will look similar but never identical.
How should I wash Ajrakh printed products?
First wash in cold water. Always hand wash or gentle machine cycle. Dry in shade. direct sun can shift natural dye colors over time.
What does Cotton feel like?
Cotton feels soft, breathable, and familiar against skin. Handloom cotton has a slight irregularity you can feel with your fingertips . tiny slubs that machine-made fabric lacks.
How do I wash Cotton products?
Hand wash or gentle machine cycle in cold water. Use mild detergent. Cotton can shrink 3-5% in the first wash. that's normal. Air dry in shade for best color retention.
Is Cotton suitable for all seasons?
Cotton breathes well in hot weather and layers comfortably in winter. It's one of the most versatile fabrics across Indian seasons. Lighter weaves suit summer; denser ones work in cooler months.
How durable is Cotton?
Cotton is one of the most durable natural fabrics. It holds up well to regular washing and daily wear. Handloom cotton often outlasts its machine-made counterparts.

Handloom Cotton has a distinct texture. slightly uneven, with a softer hand-feel. It's woven on manual looms with natural yarn tension. Mill cotton is uniform but lacks that organic character.
