For those of you using a 44-inch wide fabric, this guide suggests measurements for a standard L Size. Think of this as your starting point. If you're working with different sizes or fabric widths, just adjust up or down accordingly. Hope this helps!
When it comes to how much fabric you'll need, it really depends on the design. We'd recommend having a chat with your designer or tailor before you order, just to be on the safe side.

What are the dimensions of your dupattas?
Our dupattas range from 2 to 2.5 metres in length. Width varies between 0.5 and 1 metre depending on the style. Exact dimensions are on each product page.
Can I use this as a head covering or scarf?
Yes. Our dupattas work well as head coverings, neck scarves, or draped over the shoulder. The lighter ones double up nicely for travel and layering.
Will the colors bleed when I wash it?
We recommend a cold water hand wash for the first use. Some natural dyes may release slight color initially. that settles after the first wash. Always wash separately the first time.
Is this suitable as a gift?
Our dupattas make thoughtful gifts. They are practical, beautiful, and carry the story of the craft behind them. We pack every order with care and a handwritten note.

Iron on low heat while slightly damp for best results. Use a pressing cloth on silk, chiffon, or embroidered dupattas. Steam works well on cotton and linen. Avoid high heat on synthetics.
What is Kasuti embroidery?
Kasuti embroidery comes from North Karnataka, traditionally done by Lingayat women. It uses four stitches: gavanti, murgi, neygi, and menthi. The embroidery looks identical on both sides of the fabric.
How long does Kasuti embroidery take?
The stitcher counts fabric threads and creates patterns without any pre-drawn design. The gavanti (double running) stitch produces patterns that look the same on both sides. No knots are used anywhere in the work.
How can I tell if the embroidery is hand-done?
Hand embroidery has a slightly irregular stitch pattern on the reverse side. Machine embroidery shows perfectly uniform stitches. The texture and depth of hand stitching is visibly different.
Will the threads pull or snag during use?
Handle embroidered areas gently. Avoid rubbing against rough surfaces. If a thread catches, don't pull. push it back gently with a needle. Proper care keeps the embroidery intact for years.
How do I wash embroidered products?
Turn inside out and hand wash in cold water. Do not wring or scrub the embroidered area. Press gently with a towel to remove water. Iron on the reverse side at low heat.
What does Maheshwari Silk feel like?
Maheshwari silk is lighter than Banarasi but has more body than chiffon. It feels smooth with a slight crispness. The reversible weave creates a subtle texture on both sides.
How do I wash Maheshwari Silk products?
Dry clean is safest for Maheshwari Silk. If hand washing, use cold water and a mild silk-specific detergent. Never wring. Roll in a towel to absorb moisture, then dry flat in shade.
Is Maheshwari Silk suitable for summer or winter?
Maheshwari Silk works across seasons. It feels cool in summer and retains warmth in winter. The natural temperature regulation of silk makes it comfortable year-round in Indian climates.
How durable is Maheshwari Silk?
With proper care, Maheshwari Silk products last for years. The fibre is naturally strong. Avoid rough handling, direct sun, and chemical detergents. Gentle care keeps it looking fresh long-term.
Why is Maheshwari Silk priced higher than cotton?
Silk production is labour-intensive. from rearing silkworms to reeling the thread. Maheshwari Silk involves additional regional techniques that add time and skill. The price reflects the material and the maker's effort.
