This handpainted original work of madhubani godna greeting card is done on handmade paper base. Godna was originally the tattoo art of local tribes, engraved on the body on important occasions. Godna art does not shy away from time-taking fine detailing, repetitious imagery and storytelling from the epics or deities followed by their caste. These paintings largely composed of rows and concentric circles of flowers, fields, animals, figures and spirits drawn with a pointed bamboo pen using natural colours and permanent ink. This Indian tribal art comes from madhubani from the family of Shravan Paswan. A wonderful painting for the discerning decor aficionado or a gift for an art lover. These are priceless collectibles. |
| Care | Clean with soft dry cloth. Keep away from water & other liquid substances. |
| Colour | Slight difference in color from the visible product image is possible. |
| Brand | Sharavan Kumar Paswan is the third generation Godna Paintings artist from Madhubani district of Bihar. He had the privilege to learn this craft from his mother, the legendary “Urmila Devi”. Urmila Devi learnt this beautiful craft from the very talented “Late Chanu Devi”, who was also honored for this craft with a National award. Shravan Kumar fondly remembers the early days of his training under the supervision of his mother. It was fascinating as a child for him to see his mother work and under her expert supervision and months of hard work; Shravan ji mastered the techniques of this craft form. Today he, along with his son and other members of the family, manages their primary markets at various Shilpa Bazar and trade fairs across the country. |

For those of you using a 44-inch wide fabric, this guide suggests measurements for a standard L Size. Think of this as your starting point. If you're working with different sizes or fabric widths, just adjust up or down accordingly. Hope this helps!
When it comes to how much fabric you'll need, it really depends on the design. We'd recommend having a chat with your designer or tailor before you order, just to be on the safe side.

Godna art originates from the tattoo traditions of Bihar's tribal women. What was once body tattoo art is now painted on paper and fabric. Fine dots and lines create geometric patterns that carry protective and cultural meaning.
Artists use fine-tipped pens or brushes to create dense patterns of dots, lines, and geometric shapes. The designs mirror traditional body tattoo patterns of Bihar's tribal communities. Natural colors are preferred.
Traditional Godna uses natural pigments and earth-based colors. Some modern interpretations use acrylic for durability. The product description mentions the medium used in each piece.
Most Godna artworks are ready for framing. Some come on paper, some on fabric or wood. Frame under glass to protect from dust and moisture. Display away from direct sunlight.
Keep away from direct sunlight and moisture. Dust gently with a soft dry cloth. If framed under glass, it needs minimal care. Avoid touching painted surfaces with wet hands.
