Importance Of Ram Navami

The Rama Navami date falls on the last day of the Chaitra Navratri each year and is one of the most auspicious days among the Hindu festivals. This day, Ram Navami was celebrated when Lord Ram was born in Ayodhya, and many believed him to be a reincarnation of Vishnu. To perform the Rama Navami, most people deem the afternoon hours the best as Lord Ram was born in those hours. Especially in Uttar Pradesh, in Ayodhya, the streets are lit with jocund and festivities, where Shri ram Navami is celebrated with great enthusiasm. The Navami meaning is basically ‘nine’, which is also the ninth day of the month when Lord Ram was born. The Sri Rama Navami date this year is on 10 April, 2022.

The story behind Sri Rama Navami depicts King Dashratha and his three queens who had not borne a child in a while. The three queens performed the Putra Kamesti Yagna, after which they were given kheer and blessings from Yajna. Soon after, they gave birth on the ninth day of the Chaitra Navratri. Queen Kaushalya gave birth to Lord Rama, and he is believed to be the eighth form of Lord Vishnu.

The day of Sri Rama Navami is celebrated by performing the Ramanavami puja. In addition, people perform Kanya Puja, where nine girls are invited as it is believed they are manifestations of Devi Durga. Although This puja is done mainly during Navratri, it is done during Ram Navami. So get your Kanya pujan gifts and Navratri gifts from iTokri for this auspicious day.
