Material
Green bandhani pure mul cotton fabric is crafted by Sajid Abdul Shakur Khatri of Kutch using a centuries-old tie-dye technique practiced by skilled artisans. The fabric is tightly tied at multiple points before dyeing, creating the dotted Bandhej motifs through a resist process. Deeply rooted in tradition, each piece reflects generations of textile heritage. Soft, breathable and versatile, it is ideal for creating sarees, dupattas, kurtas, contemporary outfits and home decor accents.

Sajid Abdul Shakur Khatri Bhuj
Verified Partner
Abdul Jabbar Khatri, from the traditional Khatri community of Bhuj, Kutch, belongs to a lineage of dyers that spans four centuries. Along with his brother, he began professional dyeing in 1992, creating cotton dresses, dupattas, and sarees for the Indian market. The 2001 earthquake deeply affected livelihoods in Kutch, forcing artisans to depend on commercial traders with little creative freedom. A life-changing workshop on natural dyes reconnected him to his roots and inspired him to pursue artistic excellence. Today, Abdul Jabbar Khatri is known for his mastery of Bandhani and Ajrakh, his technical finesse, and his openness to experimentation, working with a team of skilled men and women artisans to keep these timeless traditions alive.
Bandhani originated around 5000 years ago making it one of the oldest crafts of Gujarat, that is still widely practiced as a famous tye-and-dye technique. The word `Bandhani` is derived from the word `Bandhan` which means tying up.

How will my order be packed?
Every order includes a handwritten note and a small surprise gift from us. Your product is wrapped carefully to reach you safe. We've done this since day one.
How much fabric will I receive?
The exact yardage is mentioned on each product page. Our blouse pieces come in standard cuts. typically 1 metre, 2.5 metres, or full bolts. Check before ordering.
Can I use this fabric for stitching garments?
Yes. Our blouse pieces work well for kurtas, blouses, dresses, and more. The product description notes the fabric weight and drape to help you decide the best garment type.
Will the fabric shrink after washing?
Handloom and handmade fabrics may shrink 3-5% after the first wash. We suggest buying slightly extra if stitching a fitted garment. Pre-wash in cold water to settle it.
Is the print/design on both sides of the fabric?
Block-printed and screen-printed fabrics show the design on one side. Woven and ikat fabrics often show the pattern on both sides. The product page mentions this.

Blouse pieces are pre-cut to the length mentioned on the product page. Custom lengths are not available for standard listings. For bulk or custom orders, contact our team.
What is Bandhani?
Bandhani is a tie-dye craft from Gujarat and Rajasthan, with roots going back 5,000 years. Artisans use fingernails to pinch fabric into tiny points and tie each one with thread. A single saree can have over 10,000 ties.
How is Bandhani done?
The artisan lifts fabric with a fingernail, ties it tightly with thread at that point, and repeats thousands of times to create a pattern. The tied cloth is then dipped in dye baths. Untying reveals the pattern.
How do I know this is hand-tied and not digitally printed?
Hand-tied Bandhani shows subtle color gradients where dye seeps near the ties. The pattern is slightly imperfect and organic. Machine prints look uniform and flat in comparison.
Why does the pattern vary between pieces?
Every tie is placed by hand. The pressure, spacing, and dye absorption differ each time. Two Bandhani pieces from the same maker will share the style but differ in exact pattern placement.
How do I wash Bandhani products?
Wash separately in cold water the first time. some color release is normal. Use mild soap. Avoid bleach. Air dry in shade. Colors become more settled and vivid after the first wash.
What does Voile feel like?
Voile is paper-thin and semi-sheer. It feels crisp, smooth, and extremely lightweight. The fabric has a clean finish that makes it ideal for layering in warm weather.
How do I wash Voile products?
Hand wash or gentle machine cycle in cold water. Use mild detergent. Voile can shrink 3-5% in the first wash. that's normal. Air dry in shade for best color retention.
Is Voile suitable for all seasons?
Voile breathes well in hot weather and layers comfortably in winter. It's one of the most versatile fabrics across Indian seasons. Lighter weaves suit summer; denser ones work in cooler months.
How durable is Voile?
Voile is one of the most durable natural fabrics. It holds up well to regular washing and daily wear. Handloom voile often outlasts its machine-made counterparts.
What makes handloom Voile different from mul cotton?
Handloom Voile has a distinct texture. slightly uneven, with a softer hand-feel. It's woven on manual looms with natural yarn tension. Mul cotton is uniform but lacks that organic character.
