A handwritten note by Jia and a brightly coloured, beautifully carved pencil with a parrot head accompanied the dress I ordered from iTokri.

Handmade products are close to my heart, and they always attract me big time! Be it fabrics, jewellery, artefacts or products like soap, face packs etc. The Uniqueness and charm of handmade products are simply unmatched.
I love collecting handcrafted fabrics and jewellery from different parts of India. Whenever I get an opportunity to visit any state or any handicraft fair, I pick a few unique products.

Few reasons why I feel we should embrace handmade products:

Unique and Authentic : They are meticulously crafted and reflect creativity, adding a touch of originality to your style.

Cultural Heritage : They are an integral part of our heritage and reflect deep-rooted culture. By embracing them, you contribute to the preservation of traditional techniques, designs, and art forms that have been passed down through generations.

Eco-friendly & Sustainable : These products are typically crafted using natural materials and traditional techniques that are environmentally friendly.

Empowering Artisans: Buying handmade products directly, supports artisans and craftsmen, particularly those from rural areas or marginalised communities.

Emotional Connection: Above all, you can feel a sense of personal connection and human touch. Handmade items carry a sense of personal connection and human touch.

iTokri: Unveiling India’s Rich Cultural Tapestry

I came across the iTokri website while browsing for cotton dresses. Scrolling through the website, I realised, this platform showcases and sells only handicraft products and handlooms. Interesting isn’t it?

And then, I dint even know how much time I spent browsing through every section of their website. Let me tell you, they have a lot of products listed on their website from different parts of India.

Something interesting and unique I found on their website was the list of fabrics categorised into different types based on the way they are made along with a whole lot of information about handlooms, their types etc.

What I ordered from iTokri

Impressed by the variety available, I decided to give it a try and ordered a cotton dress. I chose Kalamkari Block Printing Cotton Flared Dress as I liked the print and earthy colours of the dress. The price of the dress was INR 1790

Post-sale service by iTokri

I received a call from iTokri customer care, confirming the order and the amount I needed to pay I opted for COD Since it was a first-time purchase. They also informed me that my order will reach me in 10-15 days.I received regular updates on the delivery status until my order reached me.

Eco-friendly packaging

This is how my order reached me. It was neatly kept inside a recycled box, wrapped in a sheet of transparent paper. There was a handwritten note inside by the company cofounder Jia, thanking me for ordering. And a surprise gift. A beautifully carved and painted pencil. Receiving a surprise gift is always a delight and when the gift is so cute, it makes you all the more happy.

Product review : Kalamkari Block printing Cotton dress by iTokri

The dress fitted me perfectly, I was a little apprehensive about the size and return process while ordering.

1. It was a pure cotton dress. The product quality is very good.

2. The colours, pattern and design were the same as shown on their website no surprise .

3. Cotton being a breathable fabric, It is very comfortable, particularly during summer.

4. The dress design is also very comfortable. It can be worn as a dress or with pants as Kurta.

I am happy that I can create different looks with the same dress.

Overall I am satisfied and happy with my purchase. Now iTokri is my go-to site for any handicraft or handmade fabric purchase. Although the prices are slightly on the higher side, given the quality and durability of the product, I think it’s a good investment.
